Fuse Jewelry Collective Mural

This mural features the wall owner’s favorite native plants on the new Fuse Jewelry Collective’s space. They picked out Sword fern Polystichum munitum, California Poppy eschscholzia californica and Bleeding Heart dicentra formosa. I’ve never painted California poppy this large and in my studies I learned that “the Chumash believe that the souls of the dead have their eyes pecked out by two ravens in the afterlife and the soul then stretches out its arms and picks a poppy to fill in each empty eye socket, whereupon it can see again.” - from Iwígara.

For this highly textured wall I used negative space to create a high impact design on black brick.
