Swallowtail Spirits

Native and endangered species mural for Swallowtail Spirits with painting assistance from A3 high school students. As a resident artist I’ve been showing them foundational techniques of the grid method for this wall. Just like that exercise you may remember from art class to enlarge a comic and keep the proportions correct, they are learning to take art on paper and enlarge the proportions on a wall by hand using a grid. It’s a big puzzle but it works! And it’s important to learn this skill for those tricky walls where you just can’t use a projector.
